Student Spotlight: Wendell Walker
As a 5th year senior, Wendell has been at Purdue for a glorious 4 years + some. Double-majoring in Political Science and Business, Walker has just recently landed a job with Groupon in Chicago! We found him celebrating at his favorite bar (ever), Harry’s on State Street. When asked why Harry’s was his favorite, Walker replied:
“Wow! So, the reason why I love Harry’s the most is because I feel like I’m transported into a different time. I love the décor, the atmosphere, and of course, the people that work there. There is always exceptional service and it’s definitely a place that feels comfortable and low-key. I’ve gotten to know many of the servers and bouncers by name and it truly feels like more of a space to relax and unwind with the people I care about most than a typical loud and obnoxious college campus bar.”
The sense of tradition and camaraderie emulates from the ambiance of Harry’s. With a secret drink list, delicious bar food, and free popcorn, students hail from every area of campus to enjoy time with each other and escape the stress of Purdue’s vigorous academic life. Harry’s traditions include after school club, the infamous birthday shot, and unlimited free popcorn from an old-fashioned popcorn machine for all. Spending your day at Harry’s doesn’t end at current Purdue students; it extends to the alumni that decide to come back for homecoming and various other activities. With all the tradition, atmosphere, and good company…what’s not to love about Harry’s?
